A winter weather advisory starts at 7PM for northwestern Rhode Island for the area in purple on the map below.
Overall, the thinking has not changed very much since last night so here are a few key points.
TONIGHT: Snow starts after around 6 or 7PM for our entire area. By 10 or 11PM, some light to moderate bands of snow are possible. Some of the roads (especially side roads) could become slick or snow covered.
OVERNIGHT (12AM to 6AM): Snow changes to rain, first at the south coast. Areas north and west likely will stay with snow or a wintry mix.
Monday Morning (6AM to 1PM): Mostly rain from Providence down to the south coast, but an icy mix of snow, rain, and ice still possible to the north and west of I-295 in Rhode Island.
Bottom line? It will likely be a slower Monday commute to work whether you are driving on slick roads or wet roads.
Our accumulation map has not changed much, and most of this will be on the ground before the morning commute starts.
