After a slow start this week, we have some great weather ahead over the next couple of days! We will get mostly sunny skies today with highs in the low to mid 80s inland, upper 70s at the coast. Winds will start fairly calm out of the west, and then pick up from about 5-15mph by the afternoon from the west-southwest. Humidity will be fairly low which should make for a comfortable day for outdoor activities. Why are we seeing this kind of weather? Our friend high pressure (shown by the blue H) is the main reason why.
Thursday looks good too with perhaps a little more humidity; by Thursday night into the weekend the weather pattern starts to change a bit. Notice how instead of just high pressure, we also see few areas of low pressure and also some fronts in the area.
There will be a slight chance of a shower on Friday and it will also be a little more humid. Saturday does not look like a washout but there will be a chance of a shower or even a thunderstorm. It’s tough to time out right now because there may be a couple of weather features in play: a center of low pressure to the north and then a wave of low pressure and warm front just off shore.
We will have to provide further updates as we get close to Saturday to get a better sense of the timing and shower coverage. How about that humidity? After very comfortable weather for the next couple of days, it does look like dew points and the “muggies” will increase a bit into the weekend.
Enjoy the day! -Pete Mangione
