An off-shore storm will clip our area with some rain today.
Here’s the surface map as of 9:30am.
The center of the storm will pass well off-shore, but an area of convergence will draw some of the moisture back towards RI and southeastern MA, allowing for a period of cold rain.
The leading edge of rain will approach by late morning, but will really fill in for the afternoon. Numerous showers will persist through the evening commute, but by mid/late evening the bulk of the rain will move out.
Here’s how much rain we’re expecting.
Most of RI will see 1/4″ of rain or less, while southeastern MA could end up with up to 1/4″ to 1/2″. t’s not enough to cause any significant issues, but enough the dampen roads and potentially washout ball fields after school.
While the risk of snow locally is low, there could be a few wet flakes that mix in with the rain in NW RI. However, temperatures will be well above freezing, so nothing will stick.
