A nor’easter is still slated to develop on Wednesday and track near Nantucket Wednesday night. A storm on that track is likely to bring a variety of precipitation types, including heavy snow, rain and sleet. In addition, strong easterly wind gusts can be expected.
In advance of the storm, the National Weather Service has upgraded the “Winter Storm Watch” to a “Warning” for the higher elevations north and west of Providence.
A “Winter Storm Warning” means there is a likelihood of 6″ or more of snow.
- Communities in the Warning area include: Foster/Glocester, Cumberland, W.Greenwich, Burrillville.
- Communities in the Watch area include: Providence, Pawtucket, Cranston, Warwick, Attleboro, North Kingstown, Narragansett and Westerly.
