UPDATE: Update to snowfall graphic…brought the snowfall totals up a bit for northwest RI.
The latest round of computer data has indicated that the storm may shift a bit farther east. This will lead to colder conditions in Rhode Island, resulting in more snow. This has prompted our forecast and that of the National Weather Service to include more snow into the Providence area. As a result, there is now a Winter Storm Warning for all of Providence County. This means that there is the potential for 6″ or more of snow in that area.
This includes Providence, Johnston, North Providence, East Providence, Burrillville, Foster, Glocester, North Smithfield, Woonsocket, Scituate, Cumberland, Lincoln, Pawtucket and Central Falls.
Western Kent County also has been upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning, while the eastern part of Kent is in a Winter Weather Advisory (less snow). Northern Bristol County is also in a Winter Weather Advisory.
