The 18th annual CVS Health Charity Golf Classic teed off on June 26-28 at Rhode Island Country Club in Barrington, Rhode Island. CVS Health President and CEO Larry Merlo announced that last year’s 2015 CVS Health Charity Classic raised $1.3 million for local nonprofits and this 18th annual event is set to return to Rhode Island Country Club June 26-28, 2016 and promises to be bigger and better than ever with four main charitable events spread over three days.
This year, the tradition will include golf, a benefit concert, a 5K Run/Walk, and a Community Day.

Parking: All public parking is at Seekonk Speedway, located at 1710 Fall River Ave, Seekonk, MA 02771. Shuttles run continuously from 5:15 am until 1 hour after play Sunday and Monday, and from 6:15 am until 1 hour after play Tuesday.  Parking here is free.

Professional Format:
Professionals will be paired into 10 two-person teams. Each team’s hole score is determined by the better score of the two players. In the event of a tie at the conclusion of 36 holes, the playoff hole will be the 18th.

Tickets for the 2016 CVS Health Charity Classic are now on sale at cvshealthcharityclassic.com. Single, good-any-day tickets ($25) and Wine Lounge by Estancia Winery tickets ($50) are available. Children 17 and under are free with a ticketed adult.

Tickets are also available through a special offer at CVS/pharmacy stores in Rhode Island and select locations in Southeastern Massachusetts beginning May 17. The Field & Pairings

The 2016 CVS Health Charity Classic main field will feature 20 top-ranked PGA TOUR, LPGA and PGA TOUR Champions professionals.

“Outside-the-Ropes” Activities

While some of the nation’s top golfers compete on the greens, area residents can get involved in a series of fun “outside-the-ropes” events and activities designed to provide new ways for people to give back to their local community as part of the 2016 CVS Health Charity Classic.

  • Lady Antebellum Benefit Concert – Seven-time GRAMMY award-winning group Lady Antebellum headlines a public benefit concert on Tuesday, June 28, at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence. The concert is a great way for music lovers to support the Charity Classic and its charitable focus. Tickets are on sale now at com/CharityClassic all Ticketmaster outlets, the Dunkin’ Donuts Center box office or by phone at 1-800-745-3000.
  • Rocky Point 5k – A healthy way to kick-off off the three-day tournament, the CVS Health Charity Classic is once again sponsoring the Rocky Point 5k on Saturday, June 25. People are encouraged to run or walk in this USA Track and Field sanctioned event that also supports great local charities. Visit com for more information and to register.
  • Community Day – Make it a family affair on Sunday, June 26 with free admission. Enjoy the picturesque Rhode Island Country Club while taking in great golf and a number of other activities for fans of all ages including visits from area mascots (Boston Red Sox, Providence Bruins, University of Rhode Island), free giveaways, health and wellness stations, food trucks and more. A special kids “fun zone” features activities throughout the day such as face painting, arts and crafts, fitness fun and bubble activities. The Providence Children’s Museum’s popular Rigamajig will also be on hand for kids to invent creative contraptions using this large-scale building kit.

Area residents won’t want to miss the fun, festival-like atmosphere featuring an all-star line-up of interactive activities on and around the course:

  • Path To Better Health – A walking path around the golf course that features interactive health and wellness stations, the Path to Better Health encourages fans to participate in fun and educational health-focused activities as they walk around the golf course at Rhode Island Country Clubs.
  • Charity Miles Campaign – Make exercising really count with the CVS Healthy Charity Classic Charity Miles campaign sponsored by Aon Hewitt. Fans are invited to download the Charity Miles app, designate their favorite charity, and get moving! During the month of June, 25 cents for every mile participants walk or run and 10 cents for every mile completed on a bike will be donated to select charities. It’s a perfect app to use while participating in the Rocky Point 5k or as fans walk along the Charity Classic’s Path to Better Health.
  • Free Admission for Veterans and First Responders – The CVS Health Charity Classic is honoring veterans by offering complimentary admission to Rhode Island Country Club for the golf tournament for all active, reserve and retired Military Service Members and their dependents. Veterans simply present a valid Common Access Card or Retired Military Card at the gate any day throughout the three-day tournament. First responders and their families also receive free admission with a valid ID.
  • The Wine Pavilion by Dreaming Tree Wines – Located on the 15th green at Rhode Island Country Club, the Wine Pavilion by Dreaming Tree Wines offers first-class hospitality and amenities, including daily food and wine samplings. A great place to spend the day with friends, the pavilion offers spectacular views and a close-up look at the golf action. Spectators may upgrade their good any day ticket on-site for $25 to gain entrance to the Wine Pavilion by Dreaming Tree Wines or purchase them at the gate for $50.

Jon Curran and Keegan Bradley were the 2015 CVS Health Charity Classic winners.

BARRINGTON, R.I. (WPRI) — Jon Curran and Keegan Bradley have won the 2015 CVS Health Charity Classic. The 17th Annual CVS Health Charity Classic finished up Tuesday after another successful 3 days of charitable golf.

Curran and Bradley finished the day 31 in, 21 strokes under par shooting a total score of 121 for the tournament. Keegan Bradley and Jon Curran each took home $150,000 of the purse, with second place pairing Lexi Thompson and Harris English taking home $100,000 each. The total purse is worth $1,500,000. Keegan Bradley played for the City Year Providence charity and Jon Curran played for Tides Family Services.

Keegan Bradley used a hot putter while playing partner Jon Curran fed off the energy created by family and friends in attendance as the duo from New England cruised to their first CVS Health Charity Classic championship. Bradley and Curran outlasted Harris English and Lexi Thompson for the two stroke (-21) victory.

“I haven’t won any tournament in two and a half years” Bradley joked afterward “so I’ll take any win I can get.”

2014 CVS Caremark Charity Classic Coverage

Van Pelt & Stricker take home second win, make history at 2014 Charity Classic

The 2014 Classic featured 20 professionals from the PGA, LPGA and Champions Tours. The tournament, which was held Sunday June 22 – Tuesday June 24, 2014, has brought in millions of dollars to local charities. The Charity Classic has been bringing world-class golf to Rhode Island since 1999.

The tournament generates funds that are distributed to local nonprofit organizations that provide funding to a range of programs throughout Southern New England. The tournament raised nearly $1.3 million in 2013 for charities across the area, bringing the total funds raised since its inception to more than $17 million.
